Looking at your Google Analytics to see what posts on your website are bringing in the most pageviews is important to understand what content and messaging are attracting the most readers. Having a better understanding of that allows you to focus more time and resources on creating more of that content.

It might be even more critical to understand what posts on your website are garnering the highest RPMs and revenue. Frequently there may be a correlation between your posts with the highest pageviews and your posts earning the highest RPMs, but that might not always be the case depending on the ad strategy used.

This data is now available to you in the Monumetric Console! The Revenue by Page Metric is a sophisticated data set that looks at the top 250 pages of your site by pageview and then finds the top 50 pages with the highest RPM and revenue. Studying those pages individually for factors such as; the number of ad units, ad unit placement, time on page, and percentage of US traffic gives you a template to duplicate for future posts or to apply to old posts.

Rev by Page FAQ
Q: The data isn’t showing me the dates that I’m filtering by, why is that?

A: We can only show the data that we track. If the Console isn’t displaying back as far as you’d like, it means that we don’t have that data. As time goes on, you’ll be able to track more because there will be more days between now and when we started tracking the data.

Q: Can I see the performance for all of my pages across my website?

A: No. Google Analytics is a good source to go to when viewing all of your traffic data. Monumetric is focused on the top revenue-performing pages. Therefore, we will show you your top 50 pages by Pageviews and what the main performance indicators are for those pages.

Q: I’m not seeing 50 URLs in the Console for Revenue by Page. Is something wrong?

A: No, and this is common. RPM is defined as Revenue Per Thousand Pageviews. If a post doesn’t have a minimum of 1,000 Pageviews then it doesn’t meet the criteria to complete the calculation and thus, won’t be displayed. For example, if you had a page that had 10 Pageviews in a given month, your RPM can’t be calculated.

Q: I have a viral post but it’s not showing up as a top performance page. Why not?

A: There may be a couple of reasons. First, check your time filters. If your filters don’t align with when you published the article, the page will not display. Second, because we’re pulling data from Google Analytics and Google Ad Manager, data is delayed by a day. So if something is going viral today, it will take a day for it to record. Lastly and most importantly, Revenue by Page is meant to give you insight into what URLs are performing. Evergreen content will oftentimes outperform a viral post due to its maturity and consistent traffic.

Q: Why don’t I see data from today?

A: Because we pull data from Google Analytics and Google Ad Manager, it takes a day to get that data. In fact, it may take up to 48 hours for Google to fully process.
